Professional Gate Demo
Accurate noise gate with mathematical signal processing
About Professional Noise Gates
A noise gate attenuates signals below a set threshold using precise envelope control. This demo implements accurate mathematical models including exponential attack/release curves, hold timing, hysteresis to prevent chattering, and variable range control.
Advanced Parameters:
- Threshold: Gate opens above this level (dB)
- Attack: Exponential opening time (0.1-10ms)
- Release: Exponential closing time (10-1000ms)
- Hold: Minimum open duration (0-100ms)
- Range: Attenuation depth when closed (-∞ to 0dB)
- Hysteresis: Prevents rapid switching (3dB)
Mathematical Features:
- Proper dB to linear conversions (10^(dB/20))
- Exponential envelope calculations
- Hold timer implementation
- Hysteresis-based threshold switching
- Real-time transfer function visualization
- Accurate gain reduction metering

Professional Implementation Notes
Threshold Setting
Set 3-6dB above noise floor. Use hysteresis to prevent chattering. Monitor input level during soundcheck for optimal placement.
Envelope Timing
Fast attack (0.1-1ms) preserves transients. Moderate release (50-200ms) avoids pumping. Hold time prevents cutting between syllables.
Range Control
-∞dB for complete noise elimination. -20 to -40dB for natural-sounding background reduction while preserving room ambience.
